Dubai – Dubai Department of Tourism rules out casino gaming

The entrance of Las Vegas gambling giant Caesars Entertainment as a hotelier in Dubai will not see any push for the emirate to introduce casino gaming any time soon.
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing Chief Executive Issam Kazim confirmed there was no desire for casinos at present.
Caesars will open two hotels at Dubai’s $2.1bn Bluewaters Island development but Mr. Kazim said they were more focussed on a themed ‘destination and experience’ rather ‘than about casinos.’
Whilst gambling is forbidden under Islamic law, a host of Muslim countries allow casinos including Egypt, Tunisia and Malaysia.
Dubai is hoping to attract 20m visitors a year by 2020 and has recently started issuing a visa-on arrival system for visitors from China and Russia, countries that are both famed for their fondness for gambling.
I slutet av 2018 förväntas Bluewaters Island bli hem till Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai och Caesars Bluewaters Dubai – som båda kommer att representera Caesars Entertainments första icke-spelresorter.
